The Pinelands Cricket Club, established in 1934, has a long history dating back to 1926 when the Board of Directors of Garden Cities considered constructing cricket fields as part of a sports complex. However, financial constraints and lack of interest led to no progress until 1929. In 1934, Pinelands residents approached Mr. Ralph Fox to help establish the club, which was officially founded in 1934. The club experienced significant growth, requesting more land from Garden Cities to develop its facilities.

The club aimed for first division status in 1949, and in the 1950s and 1960s, it added ladies’ and junior sections, successful tours, and achieved first division status in competition. In 1961, a new clubhouse and pavilion were built with Garden Cities support. Despite challenges related to changing cricket and sports participation in Western Province, the club persevered with efforts to maintain its teams and community support.
