The Season Finale
The end of the season is here, but before you dust off your hockey sticks or rugby boots, there is still a lot of cricket to be played!
The big fixture of the season is definitely the first side making the 20/20 final! This is being played on Friday, 1 April at Newlands under lights. The match gets under way at 7pm and the Pinelands boys will be making noise in the stands. Please make an effort to come down and support them.
Despite the poor 2-day form from the 2s this season, their 1-day season has been very successful and this is shown in them being in the one day final being played on Monday away at Victoria. Support would be greatly appreciated.
This weekend brings the final round of 2-day fixtures with only the first side at home. They have secured their place in the 1A division for another season with a good win over Rondebosch last weekend. This weekend, they are at home to WPCC, with Province needing a win to guarantee them winning the league. I’m sure the boys will make it difficult for them and hopefully end on a win!
Twos are away to WPCC in a bottom of the table scrap. It looks like both sides will survive the drop, but anything is possible with results elsewhere, so they’ll be looking to seal it at the old enemy.
Threes are playing at Claremont. The thirds have had a good season which started off very strongly. Appropriately, they look to be finishing in third place in the league.
Fourths are playing their last game on Saturday away to St Augustines in Elfindale. Rob W was quoted saying “I hope we don’t get knifed”, but the match is always good with several beers afterwards at the bar.
Wishing all the teams luck! And Put a few balls in the stands! Vietnam
