Match Report 2nd October – 1st XI

Mark Temple attempts to fit in across the boerewors curtin for the fixtures in Durbanville

The 1st XI played 2 Ama 20/20 fixtures at Durbanville on the weekend. The first was against the hosts and the 2nd against Altius United CC.

Durbanville

We won the toss and started well however we lost our way through the middle period. In the last 5 overs we managed a respectable 46 thanks to Colin Birch (38) and Haydn de Kock (17) ensuring a total of 132 for 6 in 20
Durbanville had a steady start and the scores were level pegging after 10 overs. The PCC then took the pace off the ball and Durbanville struggled. Mark Temple bowling a fantastic spell of 4 over 3 for 17! He was back up nicely by Nick McConnachie with 3 overs for 18. With 3 left overs to go it was time for the quicks to finish things off, requiring 33 of 2 Durbanville fell 13 short!

Altius United

Pinelands again won the toss and chose to bat sighting playing on the same field as an advantage. The wicket had flattened out as the day went on and was getting better to bat on. We had a great start with Mike Pote (54) and Colin Sher (46) taking us to 80 for 0 after 10 overs! The guys all batted well however Jono Schwerin stood out, coming in and hitting some big blows to help us to 164.

United went into bat under lots of pressure due to the big total and Pinelands took early wickets to add to this. It was however a sloppy performance in the field as we almost fielded like they never had a chance of reaching our score. Some good bowling by James Johnston (4 over 1 for 16) and Mark Temple (4 overs 3 for 25) ensured that United finished on 145 all out!

With 2 great wins under the belt the boys are full of confidence. Winning is a habit and we plan to carrying on.

We play at Durbanville again on Saturday morning (10h00 start) and at PCC on Sunday afternoon (14h00 start). It would be great to have some guys down for a beer and to support the team!

The team is also in need of a scorer for Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon as Barney is away. Anyone who can assist please contact Nick 082 903 1055.

  1. What about Temp’s dropped catch? Apparently it was a show stopper.

Temp’s lives 3km from Durbanville Sports Grounds, he shaves his musty off in the car as he drives to Pinelands!
