THIRSTY 3RDS PUT DOWN SEASON MARKER

An early start to the season as our league was increased by 2 teams saw the boys come out firing on all cylinders despite being reduced to 10 men shortly before a shot was played in anger…
 
Junior Ambrose spun the coin incorrectly and The Tiere chose to bat and what looked like a flattie. After a slow but solid start they began to lose wickets at regular intervals. Harley bowled accurately but without success while Beefy De Kock, after an inauspicious first over, made the early inroads. It was however Goldenarm “Artboy” Flitton who ripped the heart out of Tygerberg’s batting lineup. He returned with figures of 3-19 in 6 and was ably supported by Beefy – 3/23 in 9 and Darryl “Cullinan” Wolverson with 2/32 in 6.
The Tiere were bundled out for 138 in 41 overs.
 
Our innings got off to a solid start with Larter and Ambrose sharing an opening stand of 61. We piled on the pressure with player of the day, Mike Bentls smashing the hapless attack to all corners. He was supported by Junior Ambrose with 47, Ash Larter with 28 and Lups Tuswa with 26. After our 45 overs we enjoyed a 95 run lead and ended the day on 233/7.
 
We will obviously be looking to close the game out on Sat and end with a full complement of points. An open fines meeting is scheduled along with a braai after the game. All supporters are more than welcome to join us.
